If you are still looking for a university where you could study art and design, the Design Academy Eindhoven in the Netherlands will be a great place where you could explore the field of design and arts.
Design Academy Eindhoven (DAE) is one of the world’s leading design schools that offers BA and MA degrees in design. It focuses on teaching students in many design approaches to generate critical and socially involved designers.
Over 700 students from more than 40 countries are enrolled at the Academy. DAE’s identity is defined by its variety. Within the school, the mixing of countries and cultures improves the work of the whole DAE community and aids student designers in understanding their ideas from a worldwide perspective.
Bachelor’s degree at DAE
Students can use principles like thinking through creating to investigate diverse approaches to design and design research in the Bachelor’s degree. It enables pupils to build their design viewpoint as well as a critical eye for the world around them.
All the programs are supplemented by eight workshops and a library that allow students to experiment with materials and ideas on a practical level while also examining theoretical concepts and understanding their context in design history as well as in connection to other disciplines like science and medicine. The workshops specialize in 3D design, working with wood, metal, plastics, textiles, plaster, silkscreen printing, and digital printing and imagery.

Apply
The application period for the BA program is open until February 28, 2022.
To apply to the BA program you need to fill in the application request at Studielink. After your application has been approved you will be informed about the further steps.
To complete your application you will need to upload the required documents – portfolio and home assignments. At first, the most important part is to upload the application form by the 28th of February, assignments and the portfolio must be uploaded before 1 March 2022.
Home assignments and Portfolio
Home assignments include two parts – the first mandatory assignment and for the second assignment, you can choose one of the five offered assignment options.
Considering the portfolio, there are no guidelines regarding the content or design, it is your free choice, but if you feel that you don’t have enough work there one of the suggestions by DAE: if you think you don’t have enough 3D work in your portfolio, you could always include a third home assignment.
Tip – as for the portfolio DAE is interested to see the process of your work, the way you are thinking, and the research behind it, the final product is a secondary thing.
InterviewÂ
Once all your materials have been uploaded, they are rewired by the admissions panel and the next step is the invitation to the online interview which is 10 to 15 minutes long.
DAE is advising to prepare for the interview beforehand due to the short time limit.
During the interview, you will present your home assignments and one of your portfolios works and answer the teacher’s questions.
Tip – it is very important to practice your presentation skills not only regarding how you present your work but also how you present yourself. Your interests, personality, and your background also matter. You have to make them remember you!
