It is important to exercise your motor skills; these skills can only be trained by grabbing a pen or a brush. Regular motor skill practice will help you to improve your artistic performance and train regular functions, such as attention and memory.
These practices will not only teach you new techniques but also you will get an understanding of light and shadows, space, perspective, forms and shapes, materials, proportions, etc.
“Begin by learning to draw and paint like the old masters. After that, you can do as you like; everyone will respect you.”
Salvador Dali
Once the right techniques are in hand, you can focus on creating and brainstorming to the fullest.
Practice examples evolving different techniques:
- You can combine two practices. Creative thinking and practicing different techniques. By using the creative thinking tip –Â draw the same thing but in different techniques.Â
- One way how to start practicing different techniques would be by exploring the techniques that interest you the most. After acquiring those it will be a lot easier and more interesting to continue learning others.
For example, you can start by finding the artwork that you like and try to create it in the same way.
