In some art, design or architecture schools the application process includes preliminary assignments and intake assignments or entrance exams. Aalto University in Finland is one of those schools. The students in the English taught BA in Design program are selected based on their success in the preliminary and intake assignment process. If you have never done these kinds of projects or assignments, it may be daunting to start. You may have a lot of questions and uncertain thoughts: “What do they want, how should I approach the assignments?”
These days the assignments are usually submitted digitally online and the entrance exams and possible interviews are also conducted online. The assignments measure the creative skills and applicant’s general suitability to the studies of the designated design field. This prep course will first train you to view and think about the assignments the right way and practice the creative skills you need in order to execute the assignments so that your idea and message come through clearly and your idea is creative enough. We give you professional guidance on the assignment types and how they are assessed. In each lesson you’ll get practice assignments to work on and the feedback will increase your understanding of what it is you should focus on in your projects. After the Aalto preliminary assignments are published, we tutor and comment on your process so that you can be certain your work meets the requirements the school has set.
