Student story: Dhairyashil's introduction & course expectations

Oct 14 / DHAIRYA
Hi, my name is Dhairyashil Bharvirkar (Dhairya for short), and I’m currently studying at the Scandinavian Design School in their course for preparing portfolios and applications to design colleges.

I’ve always been drawn to creativity.

I chose this course because I wanted structured guidance and mentorship to refine both my creative process and presentation skills. Having a strong foundation is essential, and I believe this program will help me build a portfolio that truly represents my ideas and growth as a designer while also preparing for upcoming examinations.
Ever since I was young, I loved sketching, reimagining visuals around me, and experimenting with new ideas. Over time, that curiosity became a habit as I kept finding ways to study or explore design, whether through school projects, independent practice, or short creative courses. That constant pursuit made me realise that design isn’t just an interest for me, it’s the path I want to build my future on.

In my previous work, I’ve explored a range of mediums: creating Islamic-inspired windows and experimenting with light and shadow, designing and crafting lamps, working on posters, digital art, traditional art, and even short animation pieces.
Mufassal lamp. The concept of 'Mufassal' Is derived from the serendipity and calmness of night. It reflects the engulfing brilliance of the moon and the mysterious darkness of the sky, balancing dreams and reality.

Each of these projects gave me a new way of thinking about design, how materials, visuals, and stories come together to create an experience.

Through this course, I hope to sharpen my ability to develop concepts, structure projects, and communicate visually with clarity and impact. More importantly, I want to learn how to build a portfolio that not only shows technical skills but also reflects my perspective and values as a designer.

First course assignment -Poster pair where we explored how deepening the focus in the subject you can produce more interesting perspective on it.

I’m really looking forward to this journey, to challenging myself creatively, experimenting further, and learning from both the faculty and my peers.
